Arsenal are keen to bolster their forward ranks this summer, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah attracting interest from elsewhere. Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen up top, having paused his side’s pursuit of a No. 9 in January to entrust Kai Havertz with leading the line at the Emirates Stadium for the remainder of the campaign.

With Benjamin Sesko opting to remain at RB Leipzig and Joshua Zirkzee attracting widespread interest, Arsenal may be forced to look outside the box when assessing their potential targets. The Gunners have never been shy of pouncing on market opportunities, as shown by their quick-fire deal for Leandro Trossard in 2023, and Abraham’s situation at AS Roma could be another opportunity that catches their eye.

The ex-Chelsea star is available for a ‘cut-price’ fee of £26 million this summer, and a return to England is firmly on the cards. Roma are ‘touting’ the forward to Premier League clubs in the hope of stirring up interest in the 26-year-old, with Aston Villa, Everton, and Tottenham cited as potentially interested outfits.

Abraham has impressed in Serie A when fit, though he was limited to a handful of minutes since his return to full fitness in April. Before that, he suffered an ACL injury that left him sidelined for over 10 months. Despite his history with rivals Chelsea, a move to the Gunners could prove hard to turn down for Abraham given his adoration of the club.

The England international has admitted previously that he grew up supporting Arsenal, telling Eurosport it was a ‘family thing’ in 2017, and he came close to joining his boyhood side before a move to Roma came to fruition. Speaking about the potential deal, he told FourFourTwo: “It was time to move on from Chelsea, and I was talking to various clubs in England and Europe.”

Arsenal could end their search for a striker by pursuing boyhood fan Tammy Abraham this summer. This move could not only provide the Gunners with a talented forward but also add a player who has a deep connection to the club.
