Liverpool’s underwhelming loan signing Arthur Melo could be making a surprising return to the Premier League, with Arsenal reportedly interested in a swap deal involving Jakub Kiwior. The Brazilian midfielder played only 13 minutes for Liverpool during an injury-ridden loan spell from Juventus but has since revived his career at Fiorentina.
Mikel Arteta, a known admirer of Arthur, may see an opportunity to bolster his midfield. Recent reports from Italian outlet Tutto Juve suggest that Juventus is keen on signing Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, valued at around £17 million (€20 million). A direct swap for Arthur, who is similarly valued, could be in the works.
Arthur has recently expressed his renewed confidence after a successful season in Serie A. “I feel really good, phenomenal,” Arthur said, reflecting on his 33 appearances for Fiorentina. “This is the best moment of my career. Physically, it’s been the season that I’ve played the most minutes in over all these years. Also with much more experience under my belt after having played in several leagues and teams. It’s a mix, mentally and in terms of maturity, I feel phenomenal.”
Arsenal, having spent significantly in recent transfer windows, may find a swap deal a pragmatic approach to adding depth to their squad. With Thomas Partey potentially on the move, Arthur could provide the necessary reinforcement in midfield, making the proposed swap a strategic move for the Gunners.
